YOUR THOUGHTS

Ok so I've never done this before but it's been on my mind for some time and I want to get the opinion of those of you that read this blog or just happen to check it out in passing. I will read and respond to you comments as they come in so let me know.
Give me your interpretation of Luke 17:7-10. I am curious to know what the different thoughts are on this text. Thank you

I think it shows that God owns us and he does not owe us anything in return for what we do for the Kingdom. Everything he gives us is a blessing not a payment!! just my thoughts...I am not a biblical scholar, but I did sleep at a holiday inn express last night.

Timmy, verses 7-10 alone, to me shows that Jesus has such a property in every person that He can never be in debted to us for our service. Nor should we ever expect any reward from Him in return. As Christians we belong to Him and service is our duty. When 7-10 is read in context with verses 1-6, to me, He shows us our need of DEEP humility. Jesus shows & teaches us that freedom from pain & trials comes from total forgiveness. Forgiveness we receive from Christ and then extend to those who offend us. Through this process we see that God can and will take us through the hardest times; we see how BIG He is and realize how much we need Him and how we are nothing without Him. This is where our humility comes in... enabling us to serve whole heartedly, without need of payment or reward. We serve willingly and quietly because it is what He has ordered and it has become who we are.
... just my thoughts

If you take the verse in the context it is written, the disciples are asking Jesus for more faith...with that, Jesus instructed them that they must "serve" in order to be served. Even when the disciples are watching, serving, learning, ministering, etc., that is all in the "process" of becoming a servant; and when the pinnacle is reached to be served, the disciples (and we as his disciples) must learn that humility is the key to ultimate servitude to Him. It is clear that accolades, recognition, etc. may sometimes follow as a result of following His will, i.e. Invited to Pro Football venues to pray, invited to the White House as a spiritual advisor, etc., but in all we should ALWAYS stay grounded in God's Word, Will & Ways, and KNOW that we are only doing what He expects...nothing more, and count it to be a Blessing to serve Him...which is our duty to do!...Although I didn't stay at a Holiday Inn Express, I did remember to leave the light on!!!

Man, I got to stay at the Holiday Inn. I like what my bro Eric said. Let's face it, we are a people who love to complain, seek the lime light and get what's ours. Who are we? God is Holy and he wholly owns us if we call ourselves Christians. Eric, right on bro.

Let me follow that up with some scrip.
1 Cor 6:20. Further clarification on the term "own". I mean, we can get that wrong. For example, Timmy owns me on the basket ball court. This is a different context for the word own than what's in the scripture above. Turn, Tag, Your It!
